Name Change Update
April 24, 2009
Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Community Members:
After the vote to name our school on Tuesday, March 17th, the Site Council heard from many parents and staff – all confused about the purpose of the vote. Below are what some perceived the ballot to mean:
• To name the two sites one name- Farnsworth Aerospace • To name the Cleveland site only- Farnsworth/Cleveland Aerospace • To name the two sites Farnsworth/Cleveland Aerospace • To indicate on the ballot what school what your child(ren) attended- either Farnsworth or Cleveland
Due to the unintentional miscommunication as to the purpose of the vote, the Site Council voted in a special meeting Friday, March 20th, to declare the March 17th vote null and void without ever hearing the final results.
After receiving counsel from the District Administration, we are ready to call for a re-vote. We will follow these new procedures:
•All 5th-8th graders will vote at school on Tuesday, May 12th. •They will follow the normal voting process of signing their name on a class roster, collect a ballot and place their vote in a ballot box in the Auditorium. •They will bring home a ballot for their parents to sign on Friday, May 8th and return it to their Homeroom teacher by Tuesday, May 12th. •All PreK-4th graders will bring home a family ballot on Friday, May 8th and return it to their classroom teacher by Tuesday, May 12th. •Voting for Staff and Community members will be in the main offices on Tuesday, May 12th, at both sites from 9 am. to 6 pm.
Feel free to contact me if you have specific questions or concerns: 651-338-2411
Sincerely,
Bill Lynch Site Council Chair

ALL VOTES WILL BE COLLECTED ON TUESDAY, MAY 12TH
This ballot will have the same two choices as the first ballot. Our one school, housed in two buildings, needs to have one school name.
If you vote for Farnsworth Aerospace, both buildings will be called Farnsworth Aerospace.
If you vote for Farnsworth/Cleveland Aerospace, both buildings will be called Farnsworth/Cleveland Aerospace.
Once a name for the entire preK-8 school program is chosen by the students, staff and community and then formally approved by the School Board, the Site Council will determine how we will refer to the separate campuses.

Dear Students, Families and Community of Farnsworth/Cleveland Aerospace:
Thank you to those who have submitted name ideas for our school. The Site Council looked over all on-time submissions and has created a ballot with two options from which to choose.
Each family will get a ballot. There will be space for parents and children to cast their individual votes. Ballots will be sent home with students on Friday, March 13th and will need to be returned to their homeroom teacher on the morning of Tuesday, March 17th.
Each staff member will sign for a ballot and vote in the office of each building on Tuesday, March 17th.
Community members who wish to vote may do so in the main office at each building between the hours of 9:00am-6:00pm on Tuesday, March 17th. Only community members with proof (picture ID) of a 55106 or 55101 zip code will get a ballot.
Thank you for your continual support for our preK-8 aerospace program.
Sincerely,
Bill Lynch Site Council Chair
