My name is Mrs. Popa and I work with 3rd grade this year (Mr. Bailey, Ms. Stevens-Royer, and Ms. McWatt ). I am teaching whole classrooms and Guided Reading small groups, in Reader's and Writer's workshop. In collaboration with the classroom teachers, I am using the Mondo Book Shop for teaching and assessment.
This is my fourth year at Farnsworth Aerospace, after teaching for ten years at Parkway Elementary, in St. Paul. My educational experience also includes teaching in Romania and England at the preschool, elementary and middle school level, in public and private settings (Montessori schools).
I am excited to introduce different genres and themes to my students and expose them to a variety of texts. Some strategies we are working on this year are: prediction, questioning, summarizing, and clarifying. We are also doing author studies and genre studies, analyzing the specific elements and characteristics.
