 | | Mr. Xiong on the Para Slide (Zip Line), simulating the last 50ft of a parachute descent to water | Message from Mr. Xiong: Welcome back to another school year, 2009-10! Many changes have been made as we celebrate our first year as a PreK-8 school.
Currently, I am between the two campuses. In the mornings, I am at the PreK-4 and in the afternoons, I'm at the 5-8 campuses. At the 5-8 site, I'm
team teaching with Mr. Carr as well as integrate technology into the
classroom with the wireless carts for both the fifth and sixth grade
classes. It keeps me busy for sure.
This year I coached the girls' soccer team. We had a lot of fun with the drills as the team comprised of mostly players who haven't played soccer before. We managed to pull to a 2-5 record for the season. Next year will be our year to shine as only two 8th graders depart from the team.
I had a very busy summer like most of you. Highlight was probably going to Wheaton College in Illinois for a week-long Bible Camp with the boys. It was a lot of fun!! I also played a lot of golf and was placed 17th out of 125 plus players in the annual July 4th golf tournament at Como Golf Course.
Thanks for visiting and don't forget to vote on my Surveys when they are up!
Poll Results:
| School Name Change | | What should Farnsworth Aerospace Elementary's name be changed to? | 1. Johnson PreK-8 School (2.56%) 2. Farnsworth Aerospace School PreK-8 (33.3%) 3. Farnsworth-Cleveland School, PreK-8 (2.56%) 4. Cleveland-Farnsworth School, PreK- (23.0%) 5. None of the Above (38.4%) | Comments: I voted for the Johnson PreK-8 school at first because I thought it would be a nice transition into Johnson High School. However, I neglect to realize that John A. Johnson Elementary school was just around the corner as well. I could understand why some didn't vote for that name. At the end, they decided to go with #2: Farnsworth Aerospace Magnet PreK-8 School.
| Nickname Change | | What should Farnsworth Aerospace's nickname be changed to? | 1. Keep it the same; Eagles (18.9%) 2. Astronauts (5.40%) 3. Pioneers (10.8%) 4. Tigers (45.9%) 5. None of the Above (13.5%) 6. Rockets (5.40%)
| Comments: This was a tough one to handle. I voted for the Pioneers! I really wanted a new start to this school. What better name than to name it Pioneers for a new beginning. Although most wanted the nickname "Tigers", the school decided to go with what we currently are using, "Eagles".
