Welcome to a new school year, 2008-09!
Welcome to Aerospace at Farnsworth!!
We are Farnsworth/Cleveland Aerospace PreK-8 School!!  School Picture is Monday, September 29th!!
Our mission is to provide challenging academics that will prepare the next generation of explorers.  Our school community will inspire students and their families to examine, understand and protect our planet and beyond.

Sixth graders will be returning form Space Camp 2008 this Friday, October 10.  They started the journey last Sunday, October 5.  You can view what they are doing here.

Welcome Ron Caswell, NASA engineer to the International Space Station.
the corner.  Plans are being finalized and handouts should have been sent home already.  Please look over the dates and times carefully.  We ask parents to sign and return the bottom portion to your child's homeroom teacher.  Here are some possible dates and times:

Wednesday, Nov. 5, 5-8:00 pm
Thursday, Nov. 6, 5-8 pm
Friday, Nov. 7, 9 am-12:00 pm
Friday, Nov. 7, 1:00 pm-4:00 pm

We celebrated our expansion into Cleveland as a PreK-8 school with guest speakers and fun activities for everyone.  Our guest speakers were Lt. Col. Jill Long who came and shared about her dreams and goals as a pilot.  On Thursday, September 11, "Digger" Duane Carey visited Farnsworth and Cleveland with the message to do well in school!  Lastly, Ron Caswell, an engineer with International Space Station came and challenge students to be the next engineer at NASA.  We had a big parade planned but rain kept all of us in.  Thank you to our guests, partners and parents for supporting our school.  View our Agenda...

"Digger" Duane Carey visited Aerospace at Farnsworth on Sept. 11!
with Dr. Vincent and Mrs. Wall to view the final t-shirt with every 2007-2008 students and staff name on the front and back.  The t-shirt will be going on STS-126 to space with Heide Stefanyshyn-Piper, a St. Paul native.  The Launch is scheduled for November 10, 2008.

Sixth grade students and parents may put an order for the slideshow video that was presented during the sixth grade celebration last school year, 2007-08.  Mr. Xiong will make as many DVD as needed.

Day 2: We went on field trips (U of M-AEM bldg and Holmen airfield. Another group stayed back and worked on an astronaut challenge with Mrs. Wall and Moon Craters with Mr. Fitzgerald.

Day 1: Staff from both Farnsworth and Cleveland school participated in a three day training on Aerospace and Aviation. Mr. Fitzgerald educational specialist from GRC, Janise and Darlene from MN DOT and Dennis Yeager came and presented to us.

Retired astronaut, "Digger" Duane Carey visited our school and showed exclusive videos of his past mission to space. Thank you for visiting and making our day feel special. It was awesome!!
Digger shared his experience with all grade levels.  Here, he is entertaining questions from the Kindergarten students. Digger takes time to pose with future astronauts! There were many kids that wanted to be like Digger! See all 6 images.

Fifth and sixth graders went to visit the Challenger Learning Center and Illinois Wesleyan Univ. on Jan. 6-9. Betty Shanahan also visited our school on Jan. 16th.

Expansion Celebration Week

Parade Information
The Parade has been cancelled but the celebration is still alive this Thursday, September 11, 2008.  Everyone is invited to this event!!

Engineer Family Night
On March 10, 2008 from 6:30-8:00 pm, we held an Engineering Family Night in the school gymnasium.  We had a great learning time.  Look at the pictures!!

Space Camp 2007
On Sunday, October 7, thirty-four students and six chaperones ventured off to Space Camp in Huntsville, AL.  They will return on Friday, Oct. 12.  Use this page to follow our students.

Saint Paul, Minn – All Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) student groups made gains in this year’s Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), a state measurement of performance in academics – reading and math – and other indicators such as test participation rates, attendance rates and graduation rates.

“Although the gains are encouraging in many respects, it’s not enough,” said Superintendent Meria Carstarphen, “We will redouble our efforts to achieve the targets. We are committed to this work until every student meets or exceeds the standards.”
